Horses are here on Rust Console Edition! Having been tested on the Public Test Branch at the start of August, horses are finally arriving on Console Edition today (31st August). Now, before you get all excited, you first need to learn how to buy and store your horse, and that’s what we’ll cover in this article.
Buying a horse in Rust CE
So, before you buy a horse, you’ll be interested to know that you must first buy a saddle for your horse.
There are two saddles available, a single saddle and a double saddle. The single-horse saddle, as the name suggests only allows one person to ride the horse at any given time. The double saddle will allow you and a friend to ride the horse at once. As per our understanding, the horse’s speed will not be impeded based on how many people are riding it.
In Rust PC & CE, you do not actually buy a horse. You buy the saddle from the store vendor at the barn monument. At which point, you can walk around the back of the barn and place your saddle on the horse – et voila, you now own that horse!
Barn NPC Missions
In the update, you will now be able to take missions from NPCs. In return for completing the missions, you will be awarded 100 scrap. This isn’t an entirely efficient way to farm scrap, but it’s helpful if you take a side mission to complete while you’re doing your thing.
Barn NPC Missions – Hunter
The hunter missions are based around – you guessed it – hunting and killing animals.
How to feed Horses in Rust CE
You must feed your horse in order to keep its health & stamina up to scratch. To feed your Rust CE horse, simply drop food in front of your horse, and it will nibble away.
What’s next for Rust CE?
Double Eleven, creators of Rust CE have indicated that Community servers are upcoming for Rust Console after the Horse update – which means they may not be far away!
