With anticipation building for the next entry in the Call of Duty series, some intriguing new details about Sledgehammer Games’ development of Modern Warfare III (MWIII) have started leaking out ahead of the official reveal.
Many of these leaks originate from credible industry insider @el_bobberto on Twitter, known for providing accurate early intel on previous Call of Duty titles.
According to @el_bobberto and other sources, Modern Warfare III is shaping up to include both fan-favorite returns and exciting new innovations.
Returning Classic Maps
One of the biggest reveals is that classic Modern Warfare 2 maps like Highrise, Rust and Terminal will be coming back in remastered form for MWIII multiplayer. This resurrection of iconic maps is sure to please longtime devotees of the franchise.
Innovative New Perk System
The traditional perk system is also getting reworked into interchangeable gear pieces for your character loadout including Helmet, Vest, Gloves and Boots. An innovative way to equip perks tailored to your playstyle.
Several leaked perks also hint at a focus on increased mobility and stealth gameplay, with the return of Ninja for silent footsteps and Stalker for strafing while aiming down sights.
Emphasis on Gunplay
Health is reportedly being increased from 100 to 150, placing more emphasis on tactical gunfights and headshot accuracy. And the classic mini-map makes its welcome return as well, letting players hunt down those telltale red dots.
New Modes in Development
Exciting new modes seem to be in development too, including a War mode adapted from 2017’s Call of Duty: WWII and the co-op Outbreak Zombies experience introduced in Black Ops Cold War.
Advanced Movement Rewarded
Fan favorite movement techniques like reload canceling and slide canceling will also be supported, ensuring the game rewards players who take the time to master advanced mechanics and push the skill ceiling higher.
Continuity With Modern Warfare II
Weapons, operators and cosmetic bundles acquired in Modern Warfare II carry right over into MWIII at launch too, so players’ unlocks remain intact throughout the series progression.
Map Voting Returns
Additionally, map voting is making a return so players can democratically select the next multiplayer map rather than leaving it purely to chance.
While concrete details remain scarce until the official reveal, these leaked details offer a promising first glimpse at the direction of Modern Warfare III.
