What’s in the New Rust Twitch Drop?

The wasteland is calling again, and it’s time to gear up. If you’ve been roaming the island lately, you might have noticed a shift in the local fashion. Rust has kicked off its latest Twitch Drops campaign, and this time it’s all about the “Peanut’s Wasteland” event.

Whether you’re a veteran raider or a fresh spawn looking for your first skin, this round of drops is one you don’t want to skip. This event is a collaboration with popular streamer TheBurntPeanut and features some of the most uniquely themed items we’ve seen in a while.

When are the Rust drops happening on Twitch?

The Peanut’s Wasteland event is currently live and runs for a limited window. Mark your calendars so you don’t miss out on these non-tradable exclusives:

  • Start Date: April 16, 2026, at 3:00 PM PDT
  • End Date: April 26, 2026, at 10:00 PM PDT

You have roughly ten days to clock in your hours. Remember, once these drops are gone, they are gone for good. They won’t be appearing on the Steam Marketplace later, so your only chance to snag them is by watching your favorite streamers during this window.

What Can You Earn?

This event follows the standard Rust drops format: a mix of general rewards and high-tier items. The more you watch, the more you get. Here is the breakdown of the current loot pool:

Twitch drops in Rust

1. Peanut Rock (2 Hours)

The humble rock is your best friend in the early game. This skin gives your starting tool a distinct, weathered look that fits the wasteland aesthetic perfectly. It’s the easiest drop to get and sets you apart from the sea of default rocks on the beach.

2. Peanut Sleeping Bag (4 Hours)

Sleeping bags are the lifeblood of any base. The Peanut Sleeping Bag is a high-visibility, “hazard” style skin. While it might not be the best for hiding in a bush, it certainly adds some personality to your core room.

3. Knights of the Bungus Garage Door (6 Hours)

Garage doors are often the most coveted skins in Rust because they provide a massive canvas for art. The “Knights of the Bungus” skin is a community favorite, featuring bold graphics that make your base look like a fortress for the wasteland elite.

4. Peanut L96 (8 Hours)

The crown jewel of this drop is the L96 skin. This sniper rifle is already a beast on the battlefield, and now you can take out targets from 400 meters away with style. It features a custom “Burnt Peanut” design that looks incredible through a 16x scope.

How to Get Your Loot

If you’ve never done a Rust Twitch drop before, the process is straightforward but requires a specific setup. You can’t just open Twitch and hope for the best.

  1. Link Your Accounts: Head to the Official Rust Twitch Site and sign in with both your Steam and Twitch accounts. This ensures the items know where to go once you’ve earned them.
  2. Watch the Right People: Look for streamers with the “Drops Enabled” tag. While you can earn the general drops (Rock and Sleeping Bag) from almost any Rust streamer, certain items may require you to watch specific channels.
  3. Check Your Progress: You can track how close you are to your next item in the Twitch Drops Inventory.
  4. Claim Your Reward: This is the part most people forget! Once you hit 100% progress, you must click the “Claim” button on Twitch.
  5. Sync with Steam: If the items don’t show up in your game immediately, go back to the Facepunch linking page and click “Check for Missing Drops.”

Why This Event is Different

The Peanut’s Wasteland event feels like a celebration of the community. In recent months, Rust has seen massive technical improvements, including the April 2026 “Spring Clean” update. This update brought huge performance overhauls and new items like the Armoured Ladder Hatch and Water Wheels.

Adding Twitch drops on top of these gameplay updates keeps the momentum going. It’s a great way for Facepunch to support the streamers who keep the game alive on Twitch while rewarding the players who enjoy watching the high-stakes drama of a 30-man raid.

Pro Strategy for Earning Drops

If you have a busy week but still want the L96, here are a few tips to maximize your efficiency:

  • Don’t Watch Multiple Streams: Twitch only counts your progress for one stream at a time. Opening five tabs won’t help you get the drops five times faster. Pick one streamer and stick with them.
  • Use the Mobile App: If you’re at work or out running errands, you can leave a stream running on your phone in the background. As long as the volume is on (even just slightly), it usually counts toward your progress.
  • Prioritize the Big Ones: Start your “watch time” early in the event. Streamers have lives too, and they won’t be live 24/7. Getting your 8 hours for the L96 done early ensures you don’t find yourself at 95% on the final night with no one online to watch.

Looking Ahead

With the new Workbench Upgrade system and the experimental Mortars currently being tested on the staging branch, Rust is in a very exciting place. These drops are just a small part of a much larger ecosystem that continues to grow every single month.

Make sure you get into the Peanut’s Wasteland event before the April 26 cutoff. It’s free gear, it supports your favorite creators, and let’s be honest—that L96 skin looks too good to pass up.
