What’s new in Palworld 1.0

Palworld 1.0 is officially here. Pocketpair has finally brought their massive creature-collecting survival game out of Early Access.
The update dropped on July 10, 2026. It is a monumental patch. The patch notes run over 27 pages long. The developers have rebuilt combat from the ground up. They added massive new regions. They dramatically expanded the Pal roster. The game feels completely refreshed.
If you are jumping back in or starting fresh, there is a lot to learn. The meta has completely shifted. Here is everything you need to know about the Palworld 1.0 update in detail.
Two Massive New Regions: Sunreach and the World Tree
Palworld 1.0 adds two huge new landmasses to the map. These regions completely overhaul the endgame experience. They are not just visually distinct. They feature unique hazards and physics.
Sunreach: The Floating Archipelago
First is Sunreach. This is a sprawling archipelago of floating sky islands. They hover high above the original Palpagos Islands. Ancient Paldium energy holds them aloft.
The physics are different here. Gravity is slightly lower. You can jump higher and fall slower. However, the environment is incredibly hostile. You will face freezing temperatures at night. During the day, intense solar radiation drains your stamina faster.
Sunreach is split into three distinct biomes. There is a crystalized forest, a shattered ruins sector, and a storm-battered peak. You will find unique Aerolite ore scattered across these islands. You absolutely need Aerolite to craft the new aerial mobility gear. There are also three new Tower Bosses hiding in Sunreach. They belong to a newly introduced faction called the Skywatchers.
The World Tree: The Final Frontier
Second is the World Tree. You have probably seen it looming in the background since launch day. Now, you can finally travel there.
The World Tree is the absolute core of the new endgame. It holds the hardest content Palworld has ever seen. You cannot just walk up to it. The tree is surrounded by a massive, swirling energy barrier. You must complete a late-game questline to pierce this shield.
Once inside, the landscape is alien. Massive roots create intricate, multi-level underground mazes. These act as massive, seamless dungeons. You do not load into them; they are just part of the open world. The World Tree holds Paloxite. This is the rarest ore in the game. You need it to craft the absolute best weapons and base structures.
72 New Pals to Catch and Battle
The Paldeck just got significantly larger. Version 1.0 adds an impressive 72 new Pals to the ecosystem.
This brings the total number of collectable creatures to 287. The new additions include 47 entirely original species. There are also 25 new elemental variants of existing fan favorites.

You will find most of these new Pals roaming Sunreach and the World Tree roots. Here are a few notable standouts:
- Aerosaur (Dragon/Flying): A massive four-winged dragon found in Sunreach. Its partner skill creates a localized wind tunnel. This drastically speeds up your gliding speed.
- Lumberking (Grass/Ground): A giant, slow-moving Pal found near the World Tree. It acts as a mobile lumber yard. It passively generates wood while in your party.
- Voltaic Eel (Electric/Water): Found in the electrified lakes of Sunreach. Its partner skill allows you to literally pick it up. You swing it like a massive, shocking greatsword.
The Wildlife Sanctuaries have also seen a massive overhaul. They are no longer simple islands. They now feature localized, unique weather systems. They are guarded heavily. You will face automated security drones and heavily armored “Warden” boss Pals.
New Progression: Awakening and Mutation
Breeding and strengthening your Pals is completely different now. The 1.0 update introduces two major progression systems. These add hundreds of hours to the endgame grind.
The Awakening System
You can now push your favorite Pals far past their normal stat limits. You achieve this through “Awakening.”
You need Radiant Gems for this process. These gems are exclusively mined from the deep roots of the World Tree. You spend these gems at a new Ancient Technology structure called the Awakening Shrine. Awakening unlocks a Pal’s hidden potential. It drastically boosts their base HP, Attack, and Defense.
The best part? This system stacks on top of the existing Pal Soul enhancements. A fully Awakened and Soul-maxed Pal is a terrifying force on the battlefield.
The Genetic Mutation System
Breeding just got a lot more unpredictable and exciting. When you breed two Pals, there is now a very low percentage chance of getting a “Mutated” egg.
Mutated Pals are visually distinct. They sport a glowing aura. They hatch with naturally higher base stats than standard bred Pals. More importantly, they come with exclusive passive skills. You cannot get these passives anywhere else. For example, the “Cosmic Resurgence” passive gives a Pal a 20% chance to instantly revive upon taking fatal damage.
You can boost mutation odds. The update adds new complex farming recipes. Crafting items like the Deluxe Vegetable Cake or the Paldium-Infused Pie will slightly increase your chances of hatching a mutant.
The Level Cap is Now 80
You have a lot more grinding ahead of you. The player level cap has increased. It jumped from 65 all the way to 80.
This massive increase opens up 15 entirely new tiers on the Technology board. The late-game unlocks are incredible. You can build Ancient-tier power armor. You can unlock automated base assembly lines. You even get access to orbital strike beacons.
To help you actually reach level 80, the XP curve has been totally rebalanced. Lower-level Pals now gain experience exponentially faster. You also earn a massive amount of “Exploration XP.” You get this simply by clearing dungeons, looting chests, and wiping out enemy camps.
The most welcome change is the capture bonus threshold. Previously, you had to catch 12 of a species to max out the XP bonus. Now, you only need to catch 5. This makes leveling up much less tedious.
A Massive Combat Overhaul
Combat in Palworld 1.0 feels entirely different. It is much faster, far more fluid, and highly responsive.
The biggest mechanical change is the new dodge system. The clunky roll is gone. When you are aiming down sights or actively swinging a weapon, your roll transforms into a high-speed directional dash. You have a generous amount of invincibility frames during this dash. You can even shoot your gun and reload mid-dash. This allows for highly mobile, aggressive playstyles.
Tower Boss fights have been completely redesigned. They are no longer simple bullet sponges. Boss arenas feature environmental hazards. Bosses have new, complex attack patterns. Many now have dual-enrage phases. To match this intensity, the Tower Boss time limit has been slashed. You only have 5 minutes instead of 10. You must optimize your damage.
Base raids are also totally different. They are now structured, wave-based defense events. You will face different enemy factions depending on your biome. The enemies use actual tactics. They will target your power generators and try to breach your weakest walls.
13 New Endgame Weapons

The new Technology tiers bring some serious, sci-fi firepower. Palworld 1.0 adds 13 new player weapons.
You can craft a basic Primitive Longsword early in the tech tree. However, the real fun starts past level 70. You can unlock a Laser Sword that easily slices through heavy Pal armor. If you prefer shooting, there is a fast-firing Combat SMG. There is also a staggering Heavy Assault Rifle with armor-piercing rounds.
The absolute top-tier weapons require Paloxite from the World Tree. These include:
- The Plasma Rifle: Fires slow-moving but devastating explosive orbs.
- The Beam Scatter: Essentially a laser shotgun. It is devastating at close range.
- The Drone Launcher: This does not fire bullets. It deploys three autonomous combat drones. They hover around you and automatically shoot at hostile targets.
You can also finally craft an Extra Weapon Holster. This highly requested item lets you carry up to six weapons at once on your hotbar.
The Wing Pack Changes Everything
Getting around the map is incredibly fluid now. Version 1.0 introduces the Wing Pack.
This is a brand-new piece of back-slot equipment. It lets you soar through the air freely. You do not need to mount a flying Pal to use it. The Wing Pack gives you total vertical freedom. It is absolutely essential for navigating the floating islands of Sunreach.
The Wing Pack is faster than early-game flying mounts. However, it requires fuel. It costs craftable Wing Cells to operate. You must manage your fuel reserves carefully, or you will plummet out of the sky.
Massive Base Building Improvements
Base management is significantly smoother and more automated in 1.0.
Work Suitability for Pals now scales all the way up to level 10. A level 10 Handiwork Pal works at lightning speed. This makes your late-game economy incredibly efficient.
Building restrictions have been loosened. You can finally build heavy structures over deep water. This allows for massive, impenetrable offshore fortress designs. You can construct Ocean Foundations that snap directly to the water’s surface.
Storage management is infinitely better. You can finally name your storage chests. Pals also transport items much more intelligently. They prioritize sorting items into chests that already contain the same item type.
Finally, base repair is automated. You no longer need to run around with a hammer. Pals with the Handiwork trait will automatically fix damaged walls and structures. They do not even need a Repair Kit to do it.
No Price Increase
Despite essentially doubling the amount of content in the game, Palworld is not getting more expensive.
Pocketpair confirmed they are keeping the retail price firmly at $29.99. The developers stated this is a “small way of saying thank you.” They wanted to reward the millions of players who supported the game through its buggy Early Access phase.
Should You Start a New Save for 1.0?
This is the most common question in the community right now. Do you need to wipe your save for Palworld 1.0?
The technical answer is no. You can keep playing on your existing Early Access world. Your player progress, your caught Pals, and your bases will carry over safely.
However, Pocketpair strongly recommends starting a completely fresh save. The game has changed fundamentally. The tutorial has been rebuilt. The early-game progression curve is completely different. New NPCs, lore drops, and mini-dungeons have been scattered across the starting zones. Starting from level one is undeniably the best way to experience everything the Palworld 1.0 update has to offer.
