The Minecraft community has chosen the Sniffer as the newest Mob addition to the game, which will debut in Minecraft 1.20! This sizable mob has the ability to detect and uncover seeds for new plants in Minecraft, a feature that this 1.20 Sniffer egg tutorial will discuss. However, the first step in this process involves locating a Sniffer egg underwater and reviving the Sniffer.
The 1.20 Sniffer egg tutorial begins by understanding that the Sniffer, dubbed as an “ancient mob” by the Mojang team, was once considered extinct and needs to be resurrected using eggs found underground. These eggs are integral to the arrival of the Sniffer in the Minecraft 1.20 update.
You can discover Sniffer eggs nestled in suspicious sand, along with other findings such as pottery shards. Once a Sniffer egg is successfully hatched, a Snifflet will be born, which matures into a full-grown Sniffer. This unique mob has the ability to sniff the ground in search of plants and seeds, unearthing them for your collection. Notably, the Sniffer can also detect seeds for new decorative plants, indicating that its addition to the game could yield even more exciting discoveries!
Recent development build footages and screenshots shared on Twitter suggest that the Sniffer is set to become one of the largest mobs in the Overworld, towering over your player character significantly.
The 1.20 Sniffer egg tutorial would not be complete without mentioning where to find these eggs. The Sniffer egg can be located in the Suspicious Sand block within the Warm Ocean Ruins area. Unlike other breeding animals that spawn offspring immediately, when two Sniffers breed, they drop a Sniffer egg.
As for the Sniffer egg hatching process, typically, the egg hatches after around 20 minutes on any game block. However, if you place the egg on a Moss block, the hatching time is halved to 10 minutes. After the egg incubates, a newborn Snifflet enters the Minecraft world, ready to grow into a Sniffer and assist you in your seed-finding endeavors.
