Gang Beasts is a multiplayer party fighting game developed by Boneloaf and published by Double Fine Presents. Released for PC in 2014 and consoles in 2017, Gang Beasts features gelatinous, boneless humanoid characters who fight each other in hazardous environments.
Gang Beasts is easy to pick up and play as a party game thanks to its simple, intuitive controls but has enough depth in its combat system, character customization and hazardous maps to keep players engaged in both co-op and competitive multiplayer.
What is Gang Beasts?
The gameplay involves up to 4 players battling it out in various modes like ‘Deathmatch’ where players try to knock each other out to be the last one standing. There are 8 maps to fight on like a suspended window washing platform, a moving truck, a Ferris wheel and more.
At first glance, Gang Beasts appears to be a silly multiplayer party game where gelatinous characters haphazardly flail their limbs trying to knock each other out. The cartoonish visuals and absurd ragdoll physics certainly provide hilarious entertainment. However, there is more depth to the gameplay for players looking to master Gang Beasts.
The skill level required by Gang Beasts may be low, but the skill ceiling is high, with plenty of complicated techniques to be learned.

Gang Beasts Tips
Master the headbutt
Headbutts are the perfect defence to being grabbed in Gang Beasts. Throw headbutts to break the hold someone has over you. Even when you’re roaming free, using a running headbutt can be a great way to easily knock out your opponents Carefully place your headbutt though – throwing your skull at a brick wall will not do you any favours, instead seeing you out cold on the floor beneath you! Using headbutts in Gang Beasts is a great way to finish off a punch combo for easy KOs.
Learn to break holds
As you’ll already know, once someone gets their hands on you it’s all too easy to be dragged off the map, headbutted to a KO or even worse, thrown under a truck. To Break the hold of a player, spam your sticks side to side as fast as you can, between spamming your sticks, try to throw the odd headbutt to concuss your captor.
Use the environment
Many levels in Gang Beasts contain objects and hazards that aren’t compatible with life. Use them to your advantage to easily dispose of your opponents.
For example, one map has doors that periodically open and close, throwing an enemy into those trap doors will quickly see them eliminated from the round. Other maps are solely focused around avoiding the hazardous environment, like Truck.
Master the headbutt – Time your headbutts to stun opponents and follow up with punches or throws.
Perfect your throw
Grabbing and quickly flicking the stick will throw your opponents in the direction of your throw. Use throwing to your advantage on maps where you can chuck your enemies out of the playable area, or to escape them!
Gang Beasts has Stamina – don’t use it all
Don’t punch yourself out. Manage your stamina in longer matches. Before throwing every last punch, keep some of your stamina to the side in case you need to fight or flight your way to the win!
