Overview
Call of Duty recently published an in-depth blog post answering frequently asked questions about which content from Modern Warfare II will carry over into the upcoming Modern Warfare III. Here are the key takeaways for Modern Warfare fans:
Weapons and Progression will Carry Over
- Most weapons, weapon blueprints, operators, operator skins, and cosmetics like charms, stickers, emblems and calling cards will transfer However, some limited time content may not transfer unless unlocked during specific events or seasons.
- Weapon progression like camo unlocks and attachment levels will transfer and sync between both games. But camos are still locked to their specific game’s weapons.
Operator Bundles will Carry Over
- Purchased operator bundles and skins will carry over to Modern Warfare III, however players will only have access to those purchased skins, not any base operator skins unlocked through challenges.
Warzone Integration
- Warzone will integrate Modern Warfare III content at launch, so expect all applicable MWII content you unlocked in Warzone to transfer over.
Exclusivity of Carrying Over
- New Modern Warfare III operators and cosmetics will only be usable in MWIII, not MWII. No “carry back” system in place.
- Timed exclusive MWII content like battle pass operators and certain seasonal weapons will remain locked unless previously unlocked during their availability windows.
Exceptions
- Some MWII vehicles, tactical equipment skins and wartracks won’t carry over if not present in MWIII.
Conclusion – What will Carry Over?
While not everything will transfer, this represents the most robust carry over system COD has implemented. Expect most of your unlocks and purchases to be usable day one in Modern Warfare III when it launches later this year. Want to keep up to date with all Call of Duty news, tips and tutorials?
