Palworld’s massive 1.0 update introduced several new features, bug fixes, and gameplay changes, but one of the most interesting additions is Herbil — a small Grass-type support Pal that can literally save your life

Unlike most Pals that focus on combat or work suitability, Herbil’s unique Partner Skill allows it to revive the player when they become incapacitated, making it one of the strongest utility Pals for difficult content. The ability is officially called Herbil Pulse. The 1.0 patch notes also included fixes for issues related to Herbil Pulse, confirming it as a major gameplay mechanic.

What Is Herbil?

Herbil is a Grass/Neutral Pal with a rarity rating of 3. While its combat stats are respectable, its real value comes from its support role.

Herbil Pulse Revives the player when incapacitated

How Herbil Pulse Works

When Herbil is in your party, it can automatically activate Herbil Pulse if your character is incapacitated.

At Partner Skill Level 1, the revive restores 30% of your maximum health. As you increase Herbil’s star level through condensation, the amount restored increases:

Herbil Pulse healing

Official values

Star Level	Health Restored
1★	30%
2★	36%
3★	42%
4★	48%
5★	60%

The skill does have a cooldown, so Herbil cannot revive you repeatedly without waiting. Community testing has shown the base cooldown is roughly 10 minutes, with higher star levels reducing that time.

Why Herbil Is So Strong

Most revive mechanics in Palworld require items or help from another player. Herbil works automatically as long as it is in your party, which makes it incredibly useful for:

Tower Bosses
Raid Battles
Hardcore Mode
High-level exploration
Solo play

Many players have already started calling Herbil one of the best Hardcore companions because a single revive can prevent the loss of an entire run.

Can You Become Immortal With Herbil?

Not quite.

Because Herbil Pulse has a significant cooldown, you cannot rely on it for endless revives. However, some players have discovered that carrying multiple Herbils can effectively give you multiple revive charges, as each Herbil has its own cooldown timer.

What works

Confirmed

One Herbil = one automatic revive.
Higher star levels reduce the cooldown.
Multiple Herbils can provide additional revive opportunities.

Important warning

Known issue

Earlier versions of the game had a bug where being revived during certain tower fights could cause the encounter to softlock. The 1.0 update included several fixes related to Herbil Pulse, including issues that occurred immediately after revival.

Herbil Work Suitability

Although Herbil is primarily a support Pal, it can still help around your base with:

Planting Lv. 1
Gathering Lv. 1
Transporting Lv. 1

That means it is not completely useless outside of combat, though there are far better specialised workers for farming and logistics.

Best Use for Herbil

Our recommendation

Strongest setup

Keep one Herbil in your active party

Recommended

Condense it to at least 3★

Better healing and a shorter cooldown

Worth it

Use it for raids and tower bosses

Final Thoughts

Herbil might look like a small support Pal, but its Herbil Pulse ability makes it one of the most impactful additions in Palworld’s 1.0 update.

For players tackling raids, tower bosses, or Hardcore worlds, Herbil can mean the difference between a complete wipe and a second chance. With a properly upgraded Herbil in your party, you effectively gain an emergency revive that can trigger automatically when things go wrong.

And in a game where one mistake can cost you everything, that is an incredibly powerful ability to have.
