Armor, a vital part of Minecraft gameplay, has served as a protective shield against hostile mobs, treacherous cliffs, and dangers lurking in the night for many years. Now, with the upcoming Minecraft 1.20 update, armor is set to become not just a functional necessity, but also a fashionable accessory through the introduction of armor trims!
The 1.20 Armor trims are customizable patterns for your armor that enable you to inject your personal style and exhibit your travels across the Overworld. A total of 11 distinct patterns are available, and you can color these trims using 10 different dyes. The procedure to apply trims to your armor involves finding a smithing template, a new component essential for crafting upgrades at the smithing table.
In the 1.20 Armor trims upgrade, the smithing templates are scattered across the Minecraft realms, encouraging players to embark on inter-dimensional adventures to gather a complete set. Each armor trim can symbolize the location where its corresponding template was discovered. For instance, bastions house a smithing template for a piglin-inspired trim.
Once you’ve secured a smithing template, the process of crafting your armor trims takes place on the smithing table. Next, you can color your trims by employing gems and ingots such as diamonds, copper, and netherite. This enhancement in the Minecraft 1.20 update transforms armor from a mere protective gear to an expressive fashion statement!
