The moment RUST Console Edition survivors have been waiting for is nearly here – the highly anticipated HORSEPOCALYPSE update! This major content drop ushers in one of the most requested additions since launch: rideable horses.
Get ready to saddle up and explore the island on four legs with your new trusty companion. But first, you’ll need to acquire your steed. This article contains all the tips for horses in RUST.
Obtaining Your First Horse in Rust
- New safe zones have been added to the map. Visit their trader to purchase a saddle, then browse the local stables for your perfect match.
- Each horse breed has unique qualities. Some focus on speed, others on health and stamina. Inspect them closely before deciding.
- Once you’ve picked your favorite, equip it with a saddle to make it rideable. Regular saddles are for solo riders, while double saddles allow an extra passenger.
- Bring your new friend back to base and build them a Hitch & Trough shelter. This will keep them safe and fed when hunger strikes.
- Watch their stamina level carefully as you ride. Too many sprints without rest will tire them out. Give breaks between gallops for optimal performance.
Caring For Your Horse in Rust
- Horses need constant food and water. Keep their Hitch & Trough filled or they won’t last long. They’ll eat almost anything you provide.
- Give them snacks to speed up stamina recovery after tiring rides. A well-fed horse will recharge energy much quicker.
- Equip them with horseshoes to increase speed, or horse armor for durability in fights. Saddlebags act as extra storage for transporting resources.
- Bring them inside your base walls at night to prevent sneaky survivors from stealing them in darkness.
Engaging NPC Missions
- Four new NPCs are ready with repeatable missions in various safe zones. Seek out the Lumberjack, Hunter, Dive Master, and Fisherman.
- Complete their requests to earn great rewards and master key survival skills.
- Missions will test abilities like efficient resource gathering, fishing, hunting, and more. New underwater threats have been added for these challenges!
- Get familiar with game concepts through these characters. Their tasks are a fun way to hone vital techniques.
Other Key Features
- Farmable road signs let you break down signs across the island for scrap pipes and materials. Utilize tools, but watch their durability.
- Certain monuments have been restructured for better alignment with the PC version. The Satellite Dish in particular has a fresh new layout to explore.
- New themed skins and a special one-time pack arrive with this update.
