Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Season 06

Ahead of the shift towards Modern Warfare 4, Treyarch is rolling out a massive Halloween-themed update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Launching on 17 September, Season 06 unleashes The Haunting across all modes, alongside a fresh batch of Multiplayer maps, new weapons, and new Zombies additions.

If you are trying to figure out exactly what is changing, where to unlock the new weapons, or how the new Ranked Play SR penalties work, here is the breakdown of the Season 06 patch notes.

Which Maps Are Coming to Multiplayer in Season 06?

Season 06 introduces a brand-new 6v6 map called Quantum. Set inside a Guild quantum computing facility buried deep beneath the Arctic ice, it offers a stark, high-tech contrast to the rest of the seasonal content.

The bulk of the map updates lean heavily into The Haunting. Bloodstead leads the charge, transforming the familiar Homestead map into a horror-themed, blood-soaked variant complete with scattered zombies and unsettling environmental changes around the Mason home.

Treyarch is also bringing classic Zombies locations directly into the 6v6 rotation as limited-time maps:

  • Roadkill: Based around Exit 115 from Ashes of the Damned.
Roadkill Season 6 BO7
  • Inferno: A volcanic reimagining of the Kowakujō castle.
Inferno Season 6 BO7
  • Lost: Set at the Eidskallen Lighthouse from Totenreich.
Lost Season 6 BO7

These locations tie directly into the new T.E.D.D. Trials mode, which mixes 6v6 matches with a rotating selection of five trials, throwing Ray Guns and roaming undead into the chaos. Hordepoint will also arrive later in the season, forcing teams to battle over Hardpoint objectives while simultaneously fending off zombies.

New Weapons: VMP, TR51 Para, Arcblade and Roc 20mm

Four new weapons are arriving this season, split between the Battle Pass and seasonal events.

The beloved VMP returns as an SMG in the Battle Pass, catering to aggressive players with its high fire rate, fast handling, and strong mobility. Joining it is the TR51 Para, a semi-automatic assault rifle built for long-range precision, which can also be configured for full-auto fire.

Through the new Camo Costume Party event, players can unlock the Arcblade—a fast-striking melee weapon—by completing camo challenges across Multiplayer, Zombies, Endgame, or Warzone.

The Roc 20mm is a semi-automatic Special Weapon that fires massive 20mm rounds for devastating damage, although its heavy recoil comes with the territory. It can also be configured for full-auto fire.

One important detail to note: Treyarch is holding off on major weapon balancing for the new guns until shortly after launch. This allows the developers to monitor how the VMP and TR51 settle into the meta before applying buffs or nerfs.

The DOOM Event Pass also brings crossover content to Black Ops 7, including the Doom Slayer Operator, Doom Guy Operator Skins, Crucible Blade and DOOM Shotgun.

What is the Tenshu Zombies Survival Map?

Zombies fans have plenty to dig into, starting with Tenshu. Rather than a massive quest-driven map, Tenshu is a pure Survival experience set within a confined section of Kowakujō. You will face Hellhounds, Oni, and standard undead while utilising familiar mechanics like Wall Buys, Perks, the Mystery Box, and GobbleGum machines.

Pushing into high rounds rewards you with specific cosmetics and XP:

  • Round 10: Mononoke Neko Animated Emblem (+1,000 XP)
  • Round 25: Sleepy Cat Weapon Charm (+2,500 XP)
  • Round 50: Wonderbar! GobbleGum (+5,000 XP)

Rex Infernus Directed Mode and Weapon Nerfs

If you struggled with the complex Main Quest on Rex Infernus last season, Directed Mode is now available. This caps the game at Round 15 and provides on-screen instructions for every quest step. Completing the Directed Mode unlocks the Netherclaw Warden’s Blight Wonder Weapon Skin and a unique Calling Card.

Speaking of Rex Infernus, Zombies players will notice a significant hit to the Echo 12’s Backlash Launcher Conversion Kit. In its Pack-a-Punched form, the attachment had become so powerful that it was trivialising boss fights. Treyarch has heavily reduced its explosion radius, damage output, clip size, and overall ammunition reserves.

Rogue Run Upgrades: Pack-a-Punch Tier IV and Golden Armour

Rogue Run is receiving several major updates in Season 06. The mode now features three new pedestal upgrades that drastically raise the power ceiling: Pack-a-Punch Tier IV, Ultra-Rarity weapon upgrades, and Golden Armour, which automatically regenerates your armour plates over time.

You can test these upgrades out in the two new playlists for Paradox Junction and Kowakujō, both of which offer Casual and Hardcore variants. To fit the seasonal theme, you will also notice pumpkin-headed zombies and Halloween-themed pedestal rewards appearing across all Rogue Run matches.

Super Easter Egg Rewards: Unlocking The Warden

Players who have completed every Main Quest across Black Ops 7‘s Round-Based Zombies maps can now look out for the new Super Easter Egg rewards, including access to The Warden as an unlockable Operator. Treyarch is keeping the rest of the Super Easter Egg rewards a secret for now, leaving players to discover the remaining bonuses in-game.

How the New Ranked Play SR Penalties Work

Because Modern Warfare 4 is just around the corner, Season 06 Ranked Play is a short, three-week sprint, and Treyarch has introduced new penalties and rank-disparity adjustments for the final season.

Losing a match and placing between fifth and eighth will now cost you an additional 10 to 40 SR depending on your exact position. The game also now actively calculates the rank difference between you and your opponents:

  • Outscore an opponent 3+ rank tiers higher: +20 SR
  • Outscore an opponent 6+ rank tiers higher: +40 SR
  • Get outscored by an opponent 3+ rank tiers lower: -20 SR
  • Get outscored by an opponent 6+ rank tiers lower: -40 SR

Additionally, Exposure has been added back into the competitive map pool for this final push.

Endgame Updates: Avalon Night and the Forbidden Summoning

Over in Endgame, the Avalon Night event plunges the map into darkness. Squads will have to survive against Fears and Guild opponents under the cover of night.

This ties directly into the new Forbidden Summoning Event. Players must unlock the seals to free an ancient threat, with Treyarch recommending that squads bring plenty of backup to take on the encounter and claim its rewards. This will be the only World Event available during the first week of Season 06.

New Weekly Challenges and Rewards

Season 06 also introduces a fresh set of Weekly Challenges covering the game’s four supported modes. Completing challenges earns Loadout items, Camos and XP, while completing any six challenges unlocks the weekly reward.

One of the headline rewards is the “Pearl Mollusk” FG42 Assault Rifle Weapon Blueprint, with additional Attachments and other rewards available throughout the seasonal challenge rotation.

New Prestige Title Challenges

To round out Season 06, five new Prestige Title Challenges are live, including the gruelling “Arsenal Incarnate” for unlocking final Mastery Camos across all four modes, and “Primordial Being” for completing each Zombies Main Quest with at least 18 Relics active. Rounding out the final set for completionists are the Private Eye, Over Achiever, and John Black Ops titles.

Black Ops 7 Season 06 brings a sizeable mix of Halloween content across Multiplayer, Zombies, Rogue Run and Endgame. With new maps, four weapons, Tenshu, Directed Mode for Rex Infernus, expanded Rogue Run playlists and the final Black Ops 7 Ranked season, there is plenty for players to work through during The Haunting. The season launches on 17 September, with additional content such as Hordepoint arriving later in the season.
