How to Get Modern Warfare 4 Beta Codes: Every MW4 Beta Access Method

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 beta is almost here, and players are already hunting for ways to get their hands on an MW4 beta code before the Open Beta begins.

The good news is that you don’t necessarily have to buy the full game to play during Early Access.

Activision has confirmed that the Modern Warfare 4 Early Access Beta runs from August 21 to August 25, 2026, while the Open Beta becomes available to everyone from August 28 to September 1.

There are several ways to get into Early Access, including pre-ordering the game, claiming the current Discord Nitro promotion, entering legitimate giveaways, or purchasing an Early Access code from a third-party key retailer such as Loaded.

Here’s every option currently available and what you need to know about each one.

When Does the Modern Warfare 4 Beta Start?

The Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta is split into two periods.

Beta periodDatesWho Can Play?
Early AccessAugust 21–25, 2026Pre-orders, eligible promotions and Early Access codes
Open BetaAugust 28–September 1, 2026Everyone
Nintendo Switch 2 BetaAugust 28 onwardAll Switch 2 players; no pre-order required

The Early Access period begins on August 21, while everyone can join the Open Beta from August 28 without needing to pre-order the game.

This means you do not actually need an MW4 beta code if you’re happy to wait until August 28.

If you want to play during the first beta weekend, however, you’ll need Early Access eligibility.

1. Pre-Order Modern Warfare 4

The simplest official way to secure Early Access is to pre-order Modern Warfare 4.

Activision confirms that pre-ordering or pre-purchasing the game grants Open Beta Early Access. This applies to Xbox Series X|S, Playstation 5, Xbox on PC, Battle.net and Steam.

Digital Pre-Orders Don’t Need a Beta Code

This is an important distinction.

If you digitally pre-order Modern Warfare 4 through:

  • Microsoft Store
  • PlayStation Store
  • Battle.net
  • Steam

you do not need to enter a beta code.

Your account is automatically registered for Early Access, and you’ll be able to download the beta when it becomes available.

Physical Pre-Orders Do Require a Code

If you pre-order a physical copy from a participating retailer, you’ll normally receive a 13-character Early Access Beta code.

Activision says these codes are generally printed on the retail receipt or sent by email for online orders.

You can then redeem the code through the official Call of Duty redemption page.

Important: The code doesn’t directly download the beta. It registers you for Early Access, after which Activision sends your actual Beta token to the email address associated with your Activision account.

To claim your beta access with this code you will need to go to here.

2. Get a Free MW4 Beta Code With Discord Nitro

For players who don’t want to pre-order the full game, Discord Nitro is currently one of the easiest ways to get an MW4 Early Access code.

Discord and Activision are running a limited promotion that gives eligible Nitro subscribers an MW4 Early Access Beta code through Discord’s Nitro Home tab.

You do not need to pre-order Modern Warfare 4 to use this promotion.

How to Claim the MW4 Nitro Code

  1. Open Discord on desktop.
  2. Go to the Nitro Home tab.
  3. Look for the Play MW4 Early reward.
  4. Select Unlock Reward.
  5. Follow the prompts to claim your MW4 Early Access code.
  6. Redeem the code through Activision.
  7. Watch your email for the Beta token.

The promotion is available until August 25, 2026, so anyone planning to use this method should claim it before the promotion ends.

Does Nitro Basic Give You a Beta Code?

No.

The promotion requires the full Discord Nitro subscription rather than Nitro Basic. Current reporting lists full Nitro at around $9.99 per month, with regional pricing varying. Nitro Basic does not qualify.

Free Nitro trials also don’t qualify for this particular MW4 promotion, according to the current promotion details.

That makes Nitro an interesting option for people who already use Discord regularly, but it may not make financial sense to subscribe solely for a few days of beta access.

3. Buy an MW4 Beta Code From Loaded

If you don’t want to pre-order the full game and don’t want to subscribe to Discord Nitro, there’s another option: buy an Early Access Beta code separately.

Loaded’s Modern Warfare 4 Beta Early Access listing currently sells a Modern Warfare 4 Beta Early Access Xbox/PC/PS CD key with digital delivery.

This is different from purchasing the full game.

You’re buying an Early Access code that can be redeemed to gain access to the beta, rather than paying for Modern Warfare 4 itself.

Is Buying a Beta Code Worth It?

That depends on the price.

If you only want to play the Early Access period and aren’t sure whether you’ll buy the full game, purchasing a standalone code can potentially be cheaper than buying the full game.

However, there are some important things to check before buying:

  • Platform compatibility
  • Region restrictions
  • Whether the listing specifically says Beta Early Access
  • Whether the code is still valid
  • The retailer’s refund policy
  • Whether the code has already been redeemed

Loaded’s listing specifically identifies the product as a Modern Warfare 4 Beta Early Access code for Xbox, PC and PlayStation.

As with any third-party digital key purchase, make sure you’re buying the correct regional/platform version before completing the transaction.

4. Look for MW4 Beta Giveaways

You don’t necessarily have to pay anything for an Early Access code.

Several gaming websites and communities are currently running Modern Warfare 4 beta code giveaways.

Giveaways can be worth checking if you’re trying to get into the beta without spending money, although availability is limited and there’s obviously no guarantee you’ll win.

When looking for a giveaway, stick to established gaming websites, official Call of Duty channels and verified creators.

Be particularly careful with social media accounts claiming to have unlimited “free MW4 codes”.

5. Watch Call of Duty NEXT

Another reason to keep an eye on Call of Duty NEXT is that the event takes place on August 21, the same day the Early Access Beta begins.

Call of Duty NEXT is Activision’s major Modern Warfare 4 showcase and will feature gameplay, developer information and additional details about the game.

While viewers should not assume that simply watching the event automatically guarantees a code, Call of Duty broadcasts and community promotions have historically been used to distribute beta access.

For anyone trying to get into the beta without paying, it’s worth keeping an eye on the official Call of Duty channels and announcements around NEXT.

6. Wait for the Free Open Beta

If none of the Early Access options appeal to you, there’s an extremely simple alternative:

Wait.

The Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta becomes available to all players from August 28 to September 1, 2026.

You won’t need to:

  • Pre-order the game
  • Buy a beta code
  • Subscribe to Discord Nitro
  • Enter a giveaway

You’ll simply be able to participate during the Open Beta period.

For players who aren’t desperate to play one week earlier, this is easily the best-value option.

Do You Need to Buy Modern Warfare 4 to Play the Beta?

No.

You only need to pre-order the game if you want Early Access through the standard pre-order route.

The Open Beta itself is free to all players during the second beta period, running from August 28 to September 1.

The main reason to pre-order is therefore getting access several days earlier, along with the game’s other pre-order bonuses.

Do You Need an MW4 Beta Code If You Pre-Order Digitally?

Usually, no.

Digital pre-orders through the Microsoft Store, PlayStation Store, Battle.net and Steam automatically register you for Early Access.

A code is primarily required for participating physical retailers and certain promotional offers.

If you’ve already digitally pre-ordered and haven’t received a code, don’t panic. Activision specifically says you don’t need one.

Where Do You Redeem an MW4 Beta Code?

Early Access codes can be redeemed through the official Activision redemption page:

Redeem your Modern Warfare 4 Beta Code

You’ll need to sign into your Activision account before entering the code. After successful redemption, your Early Access registration will be confirmed and Activision will provide the Beta token closer to the start of the event.

What Is the Cheapest Way to Play the MW4 Beta?

That depends on when you want to play.

Cheapest overall: Wait for August 28

The Open Beta is free, making this the obvious choice if you don’t care about Early Access.

Cheapest Early Access option: Discord Nitro or a giveaway

If you can claim the current Discord Nitro promotion and already wanted Nitro, it’s a convenient option.

Otherwise, giveaways are worth trying first before spending money.

Buying a code

Buying a standalone code from a retailer such as Loaded can make sense if you specifically want Early Access but don’t want to purchase the full game.

However, compare the price carefully against the cost of simply pre-ordering the game — particularly if you’re planning to buy MW4 anyway.

What Is the Best Way to Get an MW4 Beta Code?

For most players, Discord Nitro is currently the easiest alternative to pre-ordering if you want Early Access without buying the full game.

If you already have Nitro, it’s essentially a no-brainer: check the Nitro Home tab and claim the reward.

If you don’t have Nitro, try legitimate giveaways first. If you still can’t find a code, you can compare the cost of a standalone Early Access code from a retailer such as Loaded against the cost of pre-ordering the game.

And if none of that sounds worthwhile, simply wait until August 28.

The Open Beta will be available to everyone, meaning you can try Modern Warfare 4 without spending anything on a beta code.

With Early Access beginning on August 21, the scramble for MW4 codes is already underway. But unless you absolutely need to play during the first few days, there’s no reason to pay for access that Activision will give everyone for free one week later.
