In a surprising turn of events at the Challengers Champs, Bryan ‘Jimbo’ Sabman, a former CDL pro and current Challengers player, was reportedly barred midway through a match for alleged cheating. The incident of Jimbo banned in Challengers Champs sent ripples through the gaming community.
The Call of Duty League Champs 2023 recently initiated in Las Vegas, Nevada. Alongside the primary event where the leading eight CDL teams contend for the grand prize of $2,380,000, the Call of Duty Challengers are hosting their season’s ultimate LAN event.
Among the 12 teams battling it out in the Challengers Elite Playoffs, eight teams secured their spots in the Championship weekend. The victors would not only take home $60,000 but also get the opportunity to make their mark in the gaming sphere.
Jimbo, a player from the team Orbit, almost lost this opportunity as he was allegedly found cheating in a Challengers Champs match, leading to the shocking incident of Jimbo banned in Challengers Champs.
Call of Duty Challengers news outlet, The Rotation, reported the sudden ban on Jimbo’s account due to supposed hacking during the match. They also shared an image of Jimbo’s gaming screen, which seemingly displayed a ban notification at the bottom left corner.
Rather than cancelling the match, the league permitted Jimbo to use another of his BattleNet accounts to resume the Hardpoint match between Orbit and OMiT. Despite OMiT initially leading the match 114-0, the game underwent a complete reset to 0-0.
Rafi, the founder of OMiT, voiced his disbelief over the match restart from 0-0, describing the decision as “absurd”. The replayed match saw Orbit lose, resulting in OMiT progressing to the subsequent round.
The aftermath of the incident led to The Rotation confirming Orbit’s disqualification from the Challengers Champs. Team members Jimbo, GRVTY, Gio, and Classic, instead of progressing to the loser’s bracket, were sent home prematurely.
The CDL and Challengers Champs conclude on June 18. Stay updated with our complete live coverage of the final MW2 tournament of the season.
